Squash Cockroach
A downloadable game for Windows
Squash Cockroach
This game presents a simple but addictive challenge: defending an apple located in the center of a kitchen table from attacking, hungry cockroaches. The player must react quickly and precisely to prevent the apple from being gradually devoured. Each cockroach that reaches the fruit causes a bite mark to appear on it, creating a feeling of tension and urgency. The goal is to survive for as long as possible, resisting the invasion and demonstrating reflexes and concentration in each game.
How to Play?
To play, you only need to use the mouse. Each cockroach that appears on the table can be eliminated by clicking on it, simulating the act of squashing it. As the game progresses, the number of cockroaches increases and their speed may vary, forcing the player to maintain constant attention. If a cockroach reaches the apple, it will change its appearance to reflect the damage taken. When the fruit has been completely eaten, the game ends.
- Pause: Press the Spacebar to pause the game.
- Exit: To exit the game, click on the "Exit" button in the main menu.
The dynamic is easy to understand, but challenging enough to motivate the player to try and beat their own performance.
ObjectivesThe main objective is to protect the apple for as long as possible. To do this, the player must continuously eliminate cockroaches before they manage to reach the center of the table. In the long term, the goal is to resist each wave of insects and improve reaction capacity and strategy with each attempt. The game aims to make each round represent a new challenge, with the tension of knowing that a single mistake can mean defeat.
Credits
The original idea, the design of the game mechanics, and the implementation of the core dynamic were created as part of a university academic project.
The graphical resources were not entirely made by me: the cockroaches and the apple come from available online assets that were adapted for the project. The music and sound effects used in the game are also not my own; existing songs and audio were used, respecting their purpose solely for educational ends. This game is not intended for commercial use, but to serve as a personal learning and practice exercise in video game development.
Disclaimer
This game was developed exclusively for educational and entertainment purposes. It is not intended to represent real situations or encourage negative behavior towards animals or insects. Any similarity to real contexts is purely coincidental. The product is a university prototype and should not be considered a commercial release.
